Mikayla is currently completing her degree in Vocal Music Education at the University of Northwestern- St. Paul. Studying music privately since a young age, she has seen first-hand the great value in exploring the vast world of music in both piano and voice. She is excited to finally be able to make the positive impact on others that her previous and current teachers have had on her own life.
During her years of study, she has enjoyed being involved in multiple aspects of music at Northwestern including choirs, musicals, competitions, and opera workshop. She has enjoyed experiencing growth as a musician and educator through positions such as student accompanist, Women’s Choral section leader, Northwestern Choir section leader, Women’s Choral student conductor, and being a section leader in a local church choir. She has had many performance opportunities through her senior recital, voice competitions, school tours, and musicals.
Mikayla is a private voice instructor at the Academy of Music, and is passionate about helping students achieve their musical goals. Through her degree, she has gotten the opportunity to teach students of various ages and levels of musicianship, and believes the voice is an instrument accessible to any and all. She believes the voice is one of the most expressive and satisfying instruments of study, and is excited to help you find your unique, God- given voice. In her free time, she enjoys bike rides, coffee, and a good book.
